Assignment 2

SPIDERS

 Summary: 

This is a nonfiction informational expository book that will enable readers to analyze spiders more closely due to the excellent photographs.  This book is geared more towards elementary level children. The photographs will allow readers to understand thoroughly the facets of the spiders.  The side facts that he included were extremely helpful and informative. 

Assignment:

Photo Essay-The use of the up close real photographs allows readers to understand the authors message.  The facts presented were expressively convincing and connectable to the reader due to the genuine true photographs.

Evaluative Criteria:

The design of this photographs entices the reader to open it up and read it.  The realistic photographs will allow readers to understand the facts that the author provided.

Summary: 
This book is a biography informational book that gives the reader a “picture” of the life of a well-known humanitarian Jane Goodall.  Her long life dream becomes a reality.  Her love towards animals and dream come together at the end. 

Assignment 2:
Picture Book Biography-This book is suited to fit the young readers at an early elementary level.  This book can be a great introduction to biographies due to the interesting unique illustrations.  These pictures add a visual representation of details that enhance the setting of the book. It also allows the reader to connect with the author’s information.

Evaluative Criteria:
The design of this book invites the reader to open it up and read it.  The illustrations are appropriate and complement the text.

Primates


Ottaviani, J. (2013). Primates.

 Summary

The Fearless Science of Jane Goodall, Dian Fossey, and Biruté Galdikas gives an introduction to three exceptional women scientist who improved the way we look at primatology, and conservation.  Their true love for animals and the world is transmitted thorough the outstanding authors writing.


Assignment:
Survey Graphic Book–The  graphic “novel” tells the life’s of these three amazing women's life’s accomplishments.  The cartoon-style illustrations are helpful for the readers to understand the book format. 


Evaluative Criteria:
The organization of this book is a crucial part in understanding what the author is trying to convey to the reader.  The separation and organization of each of the ladies life is uniquely separated but, still twined together.

This resource book can be used with kids, parents, teachers, and librarians.  This book provides accurate information and up-to-date information of sexuality.
Assignment:
Reference Tool-This resource book was created more reader-friendlier format that allows readers to understand the accurate information.  This information is current and up-to-date which makes it more practicable.
Evaluative Criteria:
The accuracy of this book is an essential part of how the reader will interpret this information.  The accuracy plays a big role in allowing readers to understand the difference between real and fake.

Summary: 
This informational captivating biography provided factual facts about Rosa Parks life.  This book highlighted Rosa Parks achievements and accomplishments. Thanks to Rosa Park, and all the people who stood by her, segregations on buses became illegal.
Assignment:
Biography Series–This book can be a great addition to any curriculum resource for schools to be used with students.  This biography provided information about a famous colored brave woman named Rosa Parks.  
Evaluative Criteria:
The accuracy of this book played an essential part in understanding the story behind the bus boycott.  How the author conveyed the message to the reader was amazing.

Informational Storybook–This illustrated book provides the reader with factual information about Tony Starg.   
Evaluative Criteria:
The accuracy of this book is proved by the sources, text notes, forewords, afterword, and acknowledgements.

Summary: 
This book takes you in a ride of a lifetime with events that lead up to death literally passing away.  The detailed explanations at the end of the book enables the reader to understand the procedures that are performed to corpses after they die.  This gruesome details will give you chills.
Assignment:
Picture Book Biography-The pictures on this book provides the reader with visual representations that enhance the subject being taught here which is death.    
Evaluative Criteria:
The style of this book provides the reader with clear, lively, interesting appropriate vocabulary that will intrigue any age reader.

Summary: 
This book provides information of how the Negro League Baseball men coped with their troublesome challenges.  This factual book really demonstrates the movements that these men endured but still managed to become successful baseball league players. 
Assignment:
Social Histories Book-This book provides factual information and the impact these men had throughout  history and how much the Negro Baseball League has changed.
Evaluative Criteria:
The unique organization in this book is provided by forewords and quotes in each chapter.  This book also provided documentation at the end of the book that can also be a proof of accuracy.  The historical pictures also could be a point of accuracy.

Hitler Youth

Summary: 
This book provides historical information about the young youth that were “used” during the Hitler era.  This book gives you a glimpse of how the young youth “helped” Hitler to power.  The youth not knowing in reality whom they were really helping and how much that impacted the entire world is exceptionally well written.
Assignment:
Informational Story Book-This book shares information through a story context.  The fascinating information and lively pictures presented were utilized to help the story line and helped the reader see the difference between fiction and nonfiction.   
Evaluative Criteria:
The accuracy of this book is provided by author's notes as well as timelines and photographs.  The quote sources, bibliography, acknowledgements and index are also a way of proving accuracy in a author.
